I just ordered a new tank and didn't want to pay 25 a hole to have it drilled. Is there any one who can do this cheaper. Its a glass cages 75 rimless starfire front.

Honestly I would pay GC to drill it because if they mess up Its their problem and not yours.

You can DIY if you get a diamond bit hole saw and just go really slow. I did mine with no problem but there is a chance of messing it up. Its almost worth uinsg someone professional to do it for you.

If it was a cheapo tank sure save the money on drilling but because it's a starfire rimless. Don't take the chance.

Dude, have them do it. I would never forgive myself or the other person that helped me, if the tank shattered after paying for it.

Ive paid way more than $25 for a hole before.:xd:

I agree let them do it! The bits to cut hols for glass are pretty expensive themselves!

Good video on drilling...if you wanna go this route

thanks for the video. still debating. i may be too much of a tinkerer sometimes. i like building things myself.

Drilled the two 1 1/2" with a hand drill and used a drill press on the 3/4" holes. The big ones took about an hour.

I had a local glass company drill my starphire 60gl cube for $12/hole. They do this stuff all the time and well worth the $$$.

IMHO

What about Aquatic Critter? $15 a hole

They have the drill press I used for the 3/4" holes. I would just have them do it but I already had the tank at my house and didn't want to load it up and take it to them.

It's not hard. I never don't it before and when I order my glass-hole overflow I just follow the instructions and it was a piece of cake you just have to do it slow and keep adding water.

i hear the same thing from anyone who ever did it themselves that it was easy just slow and scar the first time. if it was 1 hole i would pay for it. just $75 to drill 3 holes, for some reason just seems way over priced cause im sure for them its simple and would take all of 5 minutes. i definatly think i will be doing it myself and if it breaks i guess they will make 125 extra when they replace the rear pane.

i have achieved harder tasks than drilling a piece of glass. i mean we glue animals on rocks and somehow we manage to keep them alive and happy right.
