Was just trying to see how many people bought brown frags from friends or shows and end up with a jewel?

And picture if so please

I bought a frag of monti confusa that was green in the pic, recieved it brown and it hasn't colored up at all and hasn't grown much either..

Don't have any pics but got some nasty brown frags for free and turned out to be some really amazing acros but and a misshab killed them all

A couple of years ago I bought some coral from a fellow hobbyist, he threw in a 1" solid brown frag he found in the back of the tank. Normally I would have tossed it but decided to stick it in the back corner of my tank. It sat in the corner for nearly two years with little light and no growth. Once we upgraded to our 270G, that same small frag got placed directly under a MH- Six months later and it looks like this:

I bought a brown out sps mini colony from a LFS in the Chicago area for $30. I got it home and a month later it looks very much like a gaff bonsai, I even had a few people ask me if thats what it was.

I got a brown acro about 2 months ago and it's coloring up very nicely. It's purple with yellow polyps, can't wait until all of the brown is gone

I always go with the brown, here at the store we get in alot of acropora plana, this species browns out in our system usually...within 6-8 months we have bangerang crayola looking sticks!

I bought a browned moon brain frag...looks like it's sloooowly coloring up to green and pink. :) I'll post a fresh photo when I get home.

I've got two browned out frags. The one in the image, hard to tell from the image but is bright green with multiple branches now. I also had one that started turning purple, had a problem with redbugs and it turned brown again
:(

Won a brown frag in a bet and the second pic is how it looks in my tank still a little brown but getting a awesome purple now :)

when I bought it

how it turned out after few months or so

bought the nem on the right from petco it was faded orange when I got it

I bought a mushroom (I've always liked them) for about 3$? It was less than 5$ But I'm not sure on a defiant price. Anyway this store uses all daylight lights on most of their coral. It was an ugly brown/dull orange. I decided to get it anyway. Went home and acclimated it and couldn't believe my eyes. It was most defiantly an ultra grade that I would of paid 50+$ for. The next day I went back and bought the remaining 6.

Stands out from across the room. They have since moved tanks due to upgrades and a leak.
