I've seen some really nice GSP but so far the stuff I'm getting from online vendors just isn't that great. I usually like UC's stuff but the "electric green" gsp I got from them is far from electric. It's a pale washed out green at best even under pure blue light. Also, it has whitish grey flesh which is pretty strange - I thought GSP had purple flesh??

So, whose got some deep and bright GSP and where did you get it? Photos would be great too.

Thanks

Following but I also can’t keep gsp alive

There are different shades of star poylps. Mine is bright green. Fast growers and easily fragged.

I have some, but it was given to me as "encrusting gorgonian". So, I'm really not sure what it is. It's bright as heck.

You are welcome to a frag if you want to come out to Claremont to get it.

ooo very nice. Now that's what I'm looking for.

Anyone have GSP from Cultivated Reef? I like their description but can anyone confirm this is true since UC said something similar...

"Our Green Star Polyps is by far the nicest and most fluorescent we have ever seen. When closed up it becomes a beautiful purple color."

They are so cheap just about any lfs carries them. Another way is that many reefers have them and you should be able to work out something for a frag or two.

I don't trust LFS that have diseased fish looped into their coral systems. :)

I guess I get lucky. My lfs keeps coral separate in own tank and system.

I'm looking to do something like this on my back wall. Anyone done GSP on their back wall like this? Any regrets? I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to prune / contain on the back wall by just getting under it with a razor blade and trim it back from time to time to keep it where I want it. Or am I missing something?

Do you still have the frag from UC? I would give it some time to see if it colors up.

Yup, and it's still exactly the same as when it arrived.

But in other better new, @Cultivated Reef Metallic GSP is true to their description and in fact some of the brightest GSP I've seen! Not fully opened yet since I hacked up the frag but you can clearly see the difference. I labeled the UC "Electric" GSP so no one misses it :D.

That's interesting, I have never seen GSP so dull. Glad you got some nice bright GSP!
