Who has the power?

I'm getting ready to look into a whole house unit running propane since I have a 500 gallon tank here. I have a portable unit but really want a whole house unit since we have freezers full of raw dog food along with our house fridge. I know they're pricey but I'm at the point I need to spend some money before I die or someone else is going to spend it for me.
EDIT : The last statement wasn't a boast just me thinking out loud.

Wow, I've done the cross-country move before. And I didn't have kids yet! Busy prepping I imagine
Swamped between work, school, family and now selling the house and moving.
I’m a hobbiest of these devices. 2000w is the inverter load it can handle. It’s sort of irrelevant

What are the watt hours (wh) for the model you bought? This is what will tell you runtime / capacity. Does it have pass through / ups functionality ?

Can you post a link to it?

And what devices are you connecting and how many watts are they? I can formulate a runtime for you
The link I can do. The rest not sure.
Probably one light 120w, heater for 300w, and return pump (105w) at a minimum.

Their website has a fun time calculator too. Edit says 3 hours at full draw.

In an emergency situation, or a short average power outage you wouldn’t run lights and probably wouldn’t need a heater for 24 hours if room ambient is 68-80

Return pump is very high watts. Is that for full power ? What percent do you run it at? Example if box says return pump is 100 watt but you run at 50% then it uses 50w.

Plug this in by itself and the runtime is now 32.7 hours

That unit is also $2000 for 2000 wh

I have a 1000wh that was 420$
Can get 5 of them for $2100 and have 5000wh of runtime for the price of the jackery :(

roll out Nov 6th

Bellingham.
I'm in Shelton. The retirement capital of the world! Kinda jealous. You've got direct access to Canada! I haven't been up that way in a few decades......

the return is all or nothing, i think. sicce 5.0 is what I think I went with. I'm terrible with remembering these things.

When High school and college me watched ski movies, they always seemed to be shot around Baker, Squamish, Banff...Probably gonna need a mountain bike too. The inlaws are in Kingston and wife's brother in Bremerton.

You're gonna dig this State. It's absolutely beautiful. I've lived here all my life and picked a career that would keep me here.

or more simply and not necessarily related to the brand, how many watts do you go for/hours of run time? and what do you run through it?

I couldn't imagine running a tank without some sort of backup... even just to filter the power and output a nice sine wave. (but then again, I live in SW Florida, where we get thunderstorms every day in the summer) :)

I have an APC Smart-UPS C1500 on each of my tanks. During Milton, it ran my return and wavemakers for several hours. Right now, it shows 66 minutes of runtime with my lights pulling 100-ish watts and everything else on.

I also have Firman Hybrid 7500-Watt Dual Fuel for times like Milton where we lost power for over 24 hours.

My single apprehension is the amount of rain. I'm from Wyoming and much prefer 300 days of sun. Bonus apprehension: the cost of living.
Yeah, I think we get about a 100 days per year of sun. Over the last 20 years has snowed pretty heavily (our version is about 4 to 6 inches) maybe twice per year. Lots of overcast days that start in October and end in May or June. Then it's sunny for a two or three months. September is wonderful. Moderate Temps and about half to three-quarters of it sun. But it's GREEN! That's the trade off. And yes, cost of living is higher. Didn't used to be 40 or 50 years ago, but that's changed. But if you hunt or fish, you'll be in Heaven. There are SO MANY LAKES that it's unreal. And Puget Sound is Awesome. Bellingham has always been a nice city, so I think you'll dig it. And there are festivals EVERYWHERE. Seattle is a big draw for concerts. It used to be a great city, but not so much anymore. Be careful there. I live in the sticks so I get the best of all worlds. You'll marvel at the number of trees here. And we have a few volcanos that are cool to visit. One has already blown (Mt St Helens in 1980) and Mt. Rainier is truly a sight. It's due to blow.

I use a apc smart ups 1500(similar to above) connected to 4 agm car batteries(100ah/20hr). It Has ran 600-800w for 18hours. I run my entire tank on it, lights included. Well not the halides, just 3 Hydra64s maxed out and rest of tank. It's been in use since 2018 and I changed the batteries once(upgrade, not because they were bad).

I have a 5500W gas generator, an icecap battery backup for my HD32s, a couple of AC/DC air stones. They all worked perfectly during Milton while we were without power for 36 hours. I also have an ECOFLOW Portable Power Station DELTA 2 Max, 2400W being delivered Friday just in case.

Ohhhhh, I like this! Now that AGM is more available, I might have to do this since I have several smaller UPS (750, 1000, etc.) sitting around with dead batteries, and I refuse to pay APCs prices for their replacement batteries.

Do you run all 4 at once in parallel? Is there any special cabling or just "jumpers" from the APC leads to the battery?

It's 24v, so the batteries are in 2 groups of 2 batteries parallel together, those groups are then wired together in series. If you remove the original battery, it has a short wire with a connector. I cut and extended that to connect to batteries.

22 kilowatt whole house natural gas generator. Got burnt when out of town and didn't want to worry about battery or solar supplying enough.

I'm sure I'll be excited when I get there, and get more excited after work ends here. The "extras" (life outside of work) are why I took the job.

to the google machine for apc and agm.

You can find nice big, smart, ones with active cooling and bad batteries for next to nothing. I paid $75 for mine which goes for $700 new(at the time). Smart and active cooling is important so it doesn't overheat in extended use situation w/ high load. The fan will keep it cool and the computer is watching over everything
