Who has Wrasse in a bare bottom tank?

I do. I have read that folks don’t like bare bottom tanks because they can’t have wrasse. When I added wrasse to my tank I had never read anything about this as an issue. I added my wrasse in my 135g tank back in Oct. They have been doing great. They go to a corner someplace, cocoon, and that’s where they are till morning.

They are a McCosker and a carpenter wrasse.

Wondering if others are doing this or am I going to get the Wrasse police all up on me?

Well the species you havedont utilise the sand, species from the genera pseudojuloides, anampses,macropharyngodon and halichoeres do, while the species you have dont, and as like you said form cucoons so you wont be getting any wrasse police lol

I keep a flame wrasse in a bare bottom tank. i believe the species called Cirrhilabrus can be kept without sand as they form a cocoon slime around them when sleeping

I had a leopard wrasse for 3 years in a bare bottom. I, Iike you, didn't read that bit of trivia before getting it when I was new to the hobby. It did jump out of the tank one day though a small gap in the tank lid near the return line. But my experience was that it did just fine (it was fat and happy). I think it disappeared to some hole in the live rock at night.

Yes they would

It's a matter of genus:

Only these genera require sand; other genera sleep in a mucus cocoon in the rockwork or crevices: Anampses, Halichoeres, Macropharyngodon, and Pseudojuloides.
