If you run a minimalist reef aqua scape on a 100 plus gallon do you put the rest of your live rock on the sump or do you just run the rock that is on the display and is that sufficient to keep the biological system going without issues.

you need about .75-lb per gallon, I always throw a ton in my sup to keep room in my display.

I remember 2-3 years ago the rule of thumb was 2-3lbs per gallon. Then 1lb per gallon. Now its .75 per gallon? Lol. Funny stuff. I wonder who came up with these numbers. I have a 117 cube with only ~10lbs of LR (~2years old) and supported a yellow tang, a dwarf, goby and shrimp. Proven.

Wouldn't you need more rock poundage if its going to be in a low flow environment like your sump? I'm no expert but if you think about the surface area and water movement would be significantly less in your sump meaning youd need a higher ratio of rock to water. Just my assumption.
