Hello Reefers,

Who is eating my Zoa?

Two days ago I had a frag of three Zoa turn up missing in the morning.

This morning I had another frag of three Zoa also go missing.

The only possible culprits are blue legged hermits or candy cane pistol shrimp.

Both missing Zoa were near the pistol shrimp entrance, but I also know the blue leg hermits can be aggressive.

Did you glue them down? If you just placed them in the sand near the pistol shrimp cave, they sometimes steal rocks, frag plugs, etc to help support the structure.

Yea, they were glued down. I always trim the plug with bone cutters before gluing. The glue and plug pieces are still there.

I found one. It did come off the rock. So I’m guessing the other did too. Glad it’s not the pistol shrimp

I had blue legs in my zoa tank for a long time with no issues at all. Then one day, I added a fancy new zoa frag and they found the flavor irresistible. I moved them to another tank.

They probably wouldn't have continued to be an issue, but it only takes one instance of seeing a pack of crabs going to town on a gmk frag to have them permanently banished.

When fraging zoas make shure you pat dry the base where you glue them any water or Zoa juices will caus them to unstick
