Who is still using AF?

Just curious to see which members are still using AF products , how long and overall review. Im on my second batch of reef salt and this batch has had a consistent high mg value of <1500 but my ca is 450 and alk of 7.8. I started to dose comp 1,2,3 and everything looks better. I dose pro bio s and np pro to help keep nitrates down.

I still use the AF reef salt and components after about 1.5 years and I'm on board with most of the AF program. Overall, I am very happy with everything. Yes, parameters are not always ideal and vary depending on batch. I find after a water change, I sometimes have to adjust CA or Alk a bit before dosing the components again.

Yeah i stopped dosing comp 1 after this last wc to try and drop mg and ca to normal levels.

Sass and I use the reef salt, but we are pretty new to it and don't have much in the tank to really gauge effects. We are thinking about using the components once we get our dosing pump.

What else are you using besides the salt and comp 1,2,3? I havent tried any of the coral foods yet but am thinking about it. I also thought about trying the probiotic reef salt, but seems like it would be essentially the same that i currently dose. Reef salt+pro bios and np pro

I'm also dosing A & V, B & E and Kalium. I also feed the powder coral food which my fish love too and I use the vitamin soak for fish food.

I've read you really need to use the full program if you're going to use the probiotic salt.

Ive read that to, even with dosing pro bio s and np pro i noticed cyanobacteria and have cut the dosing to half the recommendation from af.

Use the Reef salt on the store frag tanks... Love how quickly it mixes.

Been in this hobby more than 10 years. Will tell anyone with perfect certainty after trial of numerous salt mixes, the numero uno period of most robust growth of SPS growth of any of my tanks is when I would do water changes with 5 gallon jugs filled wìth natural sea water when out on my boat fishing. No, i didnt strain or treat, just dumped it in. would only add some mix to raise the salinity. if you are close to the coast, catch an aggressive incoming tide and grab some NSW. Better than any other supplement.
