I believe every critter has a purpose.... something that they contribute to the ecosystem (even if their primary function is to be food for others!). I have a few that excel in their given profession. Who are yours? Mine are...

Scarlet reef hermits.... algae eating machines
Mexican Turbos.... also serious grazers. Make sure you glue stuff down well.
Six Line Wrasse.... hunting is his thing and he NEVER stops
Kole Tang... the ultimate tank janitor... he eats anything....
Cherub Angel... also never stops hunting
Three blue green chromis.... they are the police force....no one gets out of line.

My husband...lifter of 5 gallon buckets of water, broad shoulders to cry on, electrician specializing in extension cords, carpenter with tank cabinet skills, disposer of dead critters...all included with awesome coloration and build!:D

Yes!! Mine too! He’s also full of (sometimes unsolicited) advice. He’s kinda cute too!

My lawnmower blenny Gus. He only eats algae, not flake or sheet algae, the stuff that grows everywhere else. I've never seen a lawnmower blenny push away from a dinner table but this critter flat out refuses to touch prepared foods and opts to graze all day long. Bless his little pot belly.

Melanarus wrasse for sure. Everyone also follows him when they eat because he will tear chucks of frozen food and smash it on the rocks giving food to all.

Thats funny u mention that, I always see my blue and yellow tang following it around, now I know why, haha...

80 proof vodka + 3% vinegar dosing

Amazing results

Sleeper Banded Goby. He keeps the sand sifted, always busy moving it around and keeping it clean.

This guy. He, with some assistance from my orange spot rabbitfish, took out a horrid invasion of bubble algae.

I'm still looking for her/him. I have a great little tailspot blenny who picks on algae all the time, but is much too small to make a significant dent. I've been wondering about an urchin, but they seem like a real mixed bag...

yellow eye Kole tang and coral Banded shrimp

Mexican turbo snails. My tank is younger and still in the uglies with green hair algae. These guys are non stop. I just got a fox face yesterday but he's in qt. I'm anxious to get him through quarantine so he can help mow that stuff down!

Nitrifying bacteria do most of the work,
Coraline algae make most of the work.

lol I was going to say the same thing, except I'm the workhorse husband o_O

My flame angel for algae control. This guy literally cleaned up my back wall filled with algae in a week after introducing him to my tank. My snails and urchin did a decent job. I would see tracks only for algae to grow back the next day. If my tank was any bigger, I would add a wrasse to help with my amphipod bloom. Angel doesn't seem to have a taste for them. Crossing fingers my angel doesn't go on the darkside and start eating my sps and clam.

Mine are like the big hair band Slaughter, up all night sleep all day

Bacteria in the Zeovit method is the workhorse maintaning my tank clean since I don't have a cleanup crew. Any probiotic method to keep nitrates and phosphates low. I hated changing GFO often and then clogging in a reactor. I don't change the zeolites anymore so I can say is the bacteria doing all the job.

Blue legged hermits, damsels, purple tang, chitons, snails and other things that I don’t know the name of in my sand. Everything is cleaned up, never found left over food in my tank.
