Since I don't do sump, he is in a breeder box hanging on the side of my tank. I'm not sure why I want to keep him though. Maybe because I like the idea of keeping some interesting critters. Feeding him every day is fun too. He's only 0.5inch now.

You know we are all a little crazy in this hobby! I walked past a tank when I was at a shop and they had these AMAZING red footed Snails. I new I had to have one, then looking into them it turns out they are cold water spices so I set up a brand new tank for SNAILS!! I mean, come one man... Hahaha!

Looks pretty to me too! What if you keep them in a little bit warmer water, say 70 - 78 degrees?

Unfortunately they will pass, The rest of the guys that didnt get bought up didnt make it to long at the store I bought them from. These guys come from the coast of Southern Cali and Mexico so they like it to stay around the 70-75°. My tanks goes from 73-83... I probably could get away with them in my display tank but in the"Summer Months" (I run the Apex with Changing Temp for seasons in my tank) I would be afraid I would bake them.

I’m with you OP. I took some rock out of a system I was re-booting and left it in a bucket for a week in my basement until I had time to do my acid bath. I reached down to grab the first piece of rock and #%*+ what is that!?! Researched it....Gorilla crab. I couldn’t kill him. Hes in a sump now. I haven’t seen him in months but I do believe he’s the one that took a chunk out of my ruby dragonette’s skull which he slowly died from : ( I still couldn’t kill him though. He was just being a gorilla crab....

After hunting down the gorilla that was in my tank, I couldn't kill him. He was really beautiful. Just a little fuzzy teddy bear from hell. I kept him in crab jail (breeder box) and found him a suitable sump to live in with a Mrs. Gorilla crab.

If he’s still alive (I have no evidence he has passed) he’s been in there at least 8 months. I’m such a softy, I even quit using filter socks so he would have food making it to the return chamber....

Whoa! That is a beautiful goby! But I gotta ask, how did the snails lead you to the goby? Cold water also?

Moon snails? I didn’t think they were. Maybe I had a different red footed dude but he lived for years lol don’t tell me I was making him suffer...

You got it!! If he lived for years you must have been right on their edge. They wont fall over dead in hot water but they do start the dying process if they are to warm! Here is an insert from the care guide i have on them:

"This species is considered moderately difficult to keep due to its water temperature requirements. The Red Foot Moon Snail originates from cooler waters than most coral reef species found in the aquarium environment, and requires cooler water temps around 70 to 75 degrees"

They do come from Mexico as well so maybe you got one that Liked the warmth!! Hahaha!!

this freakin thing annihilated almost all my snails. Took out a Tile star fish and ate a sandsifting starfish. Took the whole tank down and finally caught em.
Wow! Is that a gorilla? He’s not really hairy??
Glad you caught him though, after all that destruction!
