To help others prep and cope, there were a series of storms, cold and flooding that caused power outages.

How many endured such an event and how did you cope and recover?
How did you prepare for these events if you did?
Did your plan work?

I didn't have a plan... well I can borrow a small Genny from work until I fix mine.

The mid week New England wind storm from last week shut power down at my house for about 12 hours, ran borrowed generator for 3 of those hours. I didn't loose power with the second wind storm last Saturday. It looks like everything survived the temp drop into the mid 60s.

We lost power a couple times in the past 2 weeks.
Nothing bad, hardly worth it to fire up the generator. We got lucky compared to most of the country.
But I am ready with a generator wired into it's own transfer box.
I try to have an extra 15-20 gallons of ( clear ) gas handy.

My folks lost power about 30 miles south for 21 hours. We were lucky not to. We do however have a large generator for the furnace and water and then battery backups for the tank pumps. Better safe than sorry. We've learned the hard way years ago

I lost power in Ohio during the storm but we live in a pretty rural house. Fortunately I have a whole house generator so the UPS keeps things going for the 30 seconds the generac takes to kick on.

The 18” of snow and sub zero temps here in Menomonee Falls Wi caused a ton of power outages. Fortunately for me I never lost power for more than a couple minutes. Thankfully because some lost for days. Wouldn’t have been fun with a generator for that long.

I used to run a manual generator on gasoline but got VERY tired of getting up in the middle of the night to refuel the tank. I won't let my 200+ gal tank run without power for more than 10 minutes, TOOOO many issues

Live in Houston so invested in a whole home generator.
We did lose power recently but only for about 45 mins.
The best part though is now I never worry about it! In fact, a little part of me gets excited to get some use out of the generator. Bring it on, baby! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
