Who loves the pistol shrimp!!

I have a Randall’s. He’s my favorite tank creature right now. He really doesn’t do too much besides steal all the broken oyster shells and use them to add more layers. Never hurts any of my snails or crabs. Honestly they’re one of the best critters do have in my opinion! I will also report that it’s possible to hand feed them! My goal is to be able to hand feed all my critters. Mostly successful.

My solution to my pistol stealing things is to provide as many sea shells and pebbles as possible for him to build with. Pebbles are his favorite

Found that out.
Mine has been good but other day moved egg crate with small gold torch, Rasta zoa’s frag about 10” before it got hung up on the rocks. He is getting crafty with no more snails to build with because goby goes and brings them back for building blocks

Reminds me, it's good to give the pistol shrimp building materials. From time to time I'll give him a few piles of rubble and broken shells in from of his holes. Keeps him busy.

Yeah until they take you frags and bring them under the reef

Mine done that with a zoa on a frag plug, it did return the plug after the zoa had died so I could reuse it, how very kind of it.

I love watching my pistol shrimp! Here’s a great video of him kicking buried snails out of his front yard. Eviction #1 at 0:15, eviction #2 at 3:50.

Mine sometimes stop for a while ... but never more than a couple days , the time needed to shed its armor

It’s not looking good for shrimpkin... I hope he makes another appearance soon. He’s always been super skittish, especially compared to what you all are describing with your’s.

I always have seen this shrimp building himself a fortress , maybe yours is now reigning on his kingdom ? =p

What i do every now and then is knock down his little wall and move some sand around the entrance a little then he comes and fixes it within the hour usually lol try that maybe and see if he comes out

Are you sure that they weren’t whelks snails? I don’t think that that a nassarius snail would eat a shrimp, and juvenile whelks are often confused with nassarius snails.

no it was definitely nassarius, i came in and saw it happening but i was to late to stop it. the shrimp was shedding and snail took advantage

They will if it's already dead, that's what they do. Nassarius snails certainly didn't kill it.

I should have been more clear. I meant that I didn’t think nassarius snails would a shrimp.
