I have a 24x20 refugium, I cleaned it out the other day and was thinking of trying Miracle Mud with Chaeto. Pros & Cons? I have around 289 gallons of water, mixed reef.

Good for macro growth, however Floridapets.com has cheaper "mud" straight from south florida!

I think you should give it a go and let us know how it works out. I live not too far from the manufacturer and not too long ago attended a aquarium club thingy there. Was interesting to see their setups. The owner swears that if you run a MM fuge/sump you will never need to feed your fish or corals. But the fish in his tanks were all skinny. The corals appeared healthy. I do think it would be a great medium for growing pods and other micro critters. How much the mud would interact with the chaeto if at all, who knows. It may release more iron in the water allowing for better long term growth but I'm not aware of any evidence backing that up. But the product claim is a natural constant source of trace elements.

Being that you can probably achieve the same results without the refugium altogether, I would pass on the MM and just use the chaeto alone. Keep it simple. GL.
