who turns off return when feeding?

I turn mine off. I think it's easier to track the food consumed, prevents more food waste and also as earlier mentioned doesn't allow food to enter the sump. Plus the fish know when the pumps are off, its partytime. Lol. Last point, the not so great swimmers don't get underfed.

I rarely turn anything off unless im target feeding then i will put my PP-8 into feed mode for ten minutes. I find turning my skimmer off during this time does nothing. I also dont run a sump ot filter socks so have no worries of food settling out or getting filteted out. If i were to run a sump i would most likely turn return off for a cpl minutes if target feeding. But if broadcast feeding i would just leave it on and maybe remove filter socks for the day to keep it circulating.

Never turn mine off.for me the extra bit of water down. In my sump would cause skimmer to over flow and messed up a couple float switches,I do sometimes turn the return pump down and put powerhead on feed mode

I turn mine off to feed corals but not fish.
I do note that it does mess with the skimmer but its just something I deal with to be able to spot feed.
This is what I do too. I haven't noticed any issues with my skimmer, but I skim dry, so maybe that's why. I also have my return set up for minimum back siphon when turned off.
