Couple months, lol. Have a 29G Coralife bio.

We actually bought an existing tank and it broke all over the floor. So replaced it and put the rock and cleanup crew in it with new sand. We have added tuff a little too quickly I think, but do 5 gallon water changes weekly. All we use for filtering is a chemipure bag. We added a protein skimmer and power head. I now have some reddish brown algae that only shows up in one area. We suck it up when we do the water changes. I think a problem I have been doing is keeping the lights on too much, maybe 12 hours a day or more depending on our schedule.

Bout 9 years. Current 40b/20l has been about a year. Doing better than ever.

I run a carbon net sock and skimmer. Rarely do water changes. Lights run about 12 hours. Ramped up and down. Stinks the tank broke. Big mess. :-( but glad you sruck with it. Sounds like slime algae. Usually caused by excess phosphates and/or nitrates. Gets worse with slow water flow. Might try a phosphate sponge and higher flow. Do you test?

Dude I love that macro tank! That's What I wanna do to my crab tank. Yes that is my longest running tank( marine anyways) I've had a pirhanna tank for a few months longer, are those tanks plumbed together?
