Who's been stung?

So here's a weird one. I was hanging out at the lfs with my buddy who works there and I decided to buy a couple pieces of coral. Well when he started pulling one out of the tank there was some detritus so he put it in front of a power head to blow it off and off came a black worm with orange spots. Being the smart people we are we snatched it out of the tank and started poking it into a cup to look at it. Within 5min both of your pointer fingers we touched it with started going numb and burning. Didn't think much of it until on the drive home I couldn't get my eyes in focus! It was like I had to manually adjust my eyes to see near and far away. After I got home I started seeing things that weren't there out of the corner of my eye for a couple hours than all back to normal. I thought it was weird as I had never heard of this happening to anyone

Knock on wood never been hit by a fish and I have been in the hobby a long time, I even have been scuba diving and snorkeling a lot. I have been stung by anemones many many many times but no reaction. I have had slight palytoxin once. Snorkeling in they keys once after a hurricane and all these blue moon jellys got blown off coarse and there were thousands of them in the water and we each had lots of stings but they are very minor and mainly leave red marks on the skin. There were so many they were impossible to avoid.

I was working in a very algae grown tank volunteering when I had a clump of algae fall from my hand and I stupidly reached quick to pick it up and got a black spine from a spiny urchin (the big guys) right into my thumb. Had to run vinegar on it for 10 minutes and it had the black hole for over a week.

I also had two cases of zoa toxin. First one dumb on my part as after working in my tank itched my eye before washing. Ouch!!!!! Two days of white vision in the eye and a couple weeks of pain. Next time, I was doing things right, but somehow the darn zoa actually managed to squirt me in the eye. I mean this thing must have taken lessons from the Kennedy assassination. The angle and likelihood was remarkable. Anyway, lost vision again for a few days and then pain for over two weeks. I do wear eyewear and gloves, so like I said crazy unlikely. I reacted immediately by a flushing of the eye, otherwise could have been really bad.

Stung by fish no. Bitten by fish, yes. Clown female.
Ive had Zoa poisoning as well but I ingested it. . About 10 hours of gut wrenching cramps and feeling like I was going to die I was treting some Zoas for zoa “ pox” not sure what they really are but look like white pustules on the stems . Long story short the treatment was to drain them. Somehow i ingested it and the rest is history.

This has been really nice reading as a soak my hand in scalding hot water post Scribbled Rabbitfish sting.

So far not too bad but he just bumped me. Definitely glad I'm not one of those people that picked one up.
