So I figured out what I'm gonna do. My wife and I will be on ten hour road trip tonight so I'm gonna tell her I bought it and see how it goes and if she calms down by the end I'll order it tonight

overpriced? seems they sell just fine for the current prices. not sure why/how you determined that interruptus/gems are "overpriced", but im guessing the price reflects the rarity and difficulty of collection

They're not rare or they wouldn't be allowed to be collected. They're only found in one area and the interruptus is common in Japan they just keep most of them. The main reason people want one is because they are expensive and gives them bragging rights. I'm not saying it's a ugly fish but there is tons of fish that are better looking and not a down payment for a car.
