Who's got BTA's under LED's?

9+ months under LED. Running an Orphek Nilus and have it at 100% for 5 hours of the daylight cycle.
Color great. RBTA with reddish orange and slight green where the tentacles meet the disk. Eats well and has split twice already. I don't target feed often as I don't want to deal with all the splits.

CorallN,
How do you like your Orphek's. I'm seriously looking at their new pendant style 100W multichip LEDs for the big tank rather than doing another DIY.

I changed from t5 to radions and my rbta has not changed in color

I have had my BTA for four years and it has only split twice. Once after I got it and once a week ago. I just switched to LEDs a month ago - DIY chinese LEDs with cool whites, neutral whites, and royal blues all on separate drivers. I find it interesting that it split so soon after changing lights. It was about 12" in diameter before (it was 16-18" the first time it split). The tank has adjusted well to the LEDs. Nothing bleached (mostly sps with a few lps).

Has anyone else seen their BTAs split more frequently under LEDs?

my rbta has just split once in about 7 yrs I only feed it once a month and about 16" across and it did it when i used chem clean.I know of people who have had theirs split when they started to low on the output radions and ai's

Had one RBTA in a few months went to 3, sold one went two, now theres 3 again. had one rainbow BTA now theres 2, gonna go for a sunbursts soon.

I JUST SWITCHED TO LEDS TODAY!
i had 2 250w mh with 2 t5 actinics. Awesome growth and coloration from the metal halides, they just get too hot.. I really like the blues with the leds and how they make certain corals colors really pop.
My led set up was a diy from a lfs owner, I trust and deal with on a regular basis.
35 3w blues and 35 3w whites. I have 2 of the fixtures suspended about the same height as the mh were.

I have a rbta, and a green bta. lol I hope they make it.
I'm really curious as to what to expect from switching the lights...

I hope he put a dimmer on the lights. Start at about 50%, then slowly ramp them up over the next 3 weeks or so. otherwise you'll burn the crap outta your corals. I learned the hard way, had to back it way off on about day 2!

Try to slowly switch it out...it could cause bleaching.

I've got (6) RBTA under LED! I started with 1 a year ago and it grew and split... that one grew and split... now I have 6 and they are still just a dark and colorful as day 1.

I do have to admit that when I first went LED I had to start very low (10%) and slowly ramp it up each week but they never lost color just lightened up the first few days and now they are deep and dark and GORGEOUS!

Rbta moved half way across the tank and back. It laid waste to some xenia, which I'm okay with. The little green bubble seems happy as can be.

update: negative on the bleaching, everything is happy. My rbta split, hopefully not in a last ditch effort to survive. Both of them look good as possible i believe.
