My thought is I can get more coverage with the 400w and keep a high par as well. I'll be using adjustable e ballasts so will try both :)

I had a buddy who had a 400w halide over a 40 gallon breeder, he had it at lest 20" off the water. It would defenty grow anything. A 250 would of done the same thing and it would of looked a lot better being 8" off the water IMO.

In the same boat kind of...can't decide between T5s or Halides....
Keep the reefbrites

And for the op I think u could get away with 250 watt ur tank isn't that deep or wide but it comes down to what u prefer. I have two 250 watt 16 inch reefbrite halides over a 90 at 12.5 inches above and it's about the width of my 18 inch tank so I don't think u would have a problem at 24 inches.

But 400 watt radium is awesome

you can quote my posts as many times as you'd like yet I will keep complaining :D

Halide is the way to go .
I currently run 2x250 watt radiums on a magnetic ballast over a 30 in x 30 in x 18 in tank .Magnetic ballast runs them at 330 watts overdriving the bulbs .
PAR is sround 200-250 on the sand bed on the sides whereas 400 in the center on the sandbed .
It's wayyy powerful

Abhishek

I am worried too that LED is not favorable to all my corals. I always used either T5 or 400W MH and had much less troubles with my old SPS reef.

Do you have a tank thread or picture of your tank and lights?

Im also running 400w and in my opinion they are better than 250w

I added the 400w mh on Saturday and it covers the tank well with a lumen max reflecto. Those fixture's are huge btw. I'm hitting the sps with around 400 par throughout the tank, pretty consistent par numbers. Hopefully in a month or two i start to see some real growth vs led.
