About to buy an external return. Completely intrigued by these dc pumps due to the lower power consumption. But I've seen a lot of them say only internal. So if your using a DC pumps externally please let me know what brand and how u like it. Thank u

Thank you, how long have you been running it externally. They all say don't run external. How do u know it won't leak, did I hook it up straight out the box or did u mod at all

Thanks for all your help dodger. I just read an email from jebao stating these pumps are sealed and can be ran externally as long as the pump is below the water line. So I'm buying one right now!!!!

I WAS running a dc5000 by RLSS that died completely at 1.5 years old. No reason whatsoever. The pump
Was totally clean. My Eheim 1262 has been running continuously for over ten years with minimal maintenance every six months. I contacted RLSS and they were pretty much "oh well." After a google search, seems that many of these first gen pumps failed in similar fashion. Cutting the power and plugging them back in will make the impeller spin for a second or two, and then it stops.

This arrived today, now I gotta plumb it up and get the sump up and running !

How is this going for you I bought a jebao dc12000 and it leaked had to get rid of it now looking for something different.

Aren't the Jebao DC pumps not to be used externally? I'll have to check again, hit I'm fairly certain the instructions of my Jebao DC3000 says explicitly "Internel Use Only! DC Pump do not suppose for External Use" (spelling and grammar errors included)
