I don't think that it being a hobby is relevant; these are animals that should be treated as such. If you enjoy having 5 adult tangs in your 20 gallon, you are not a good reefer (even if it makes you happy)

Yea, I agree with this. There are moral boundaries we shouldn’t cross.

As a physician, anesthesiologist, I try to prevent and anticipate problems my patients can have under anesthesia, but sometimes complications happen and I learn from them and learn how to mitigate them.
Same with reefing, with an exception that ( I must admit), I was on many occasions unprepared and negligent or lacking knowledge, so various problems happened. Now I am much more cautious, also learning from mistakes or mishaps of other reefers, so things go more smoothly.
