Supposedly they use silicates somehow, much like diatoms do in the new stages of aquariums. I typically see them no more than 6 months after my aquarium has cycled. They’re not a problem. do these get into main tank and do the fish like feeding on themI still have them over 2 years in to my build. Completely harmless.

My dwarf angels have all eaten them, but they are the only ones I've seen that do.I dont think fish eat them as I have never seen my sumped goby go near them.
