I got it a few days ago, it’s been great since then.
But all the sudden it shriveled up really small. Everything is stable and no parameters have noticeably changed. What’s going on with it? My zoanthids are doing fine so I don’t know what’s happening.

Not that I am a pro (I kill more than live) but did you acclimate it (lower light for a few days)?

I had lower light for about a day, but for the past 3 days it’s been doing great.

It'll do it's thing. Not uncommon in a new tank.

Yes. Mushrooms are pretty tough to kill.

Nothing in the picture looks alarming to me. Mine shrink and close throughout the day. Dont look at them at night when the lights off, they look like a ball all closed up lol

Okay thank you, it’s just concerning as I’ve never seen it that shrunken up before.
Is that a sign that I is splitting?
Also it seems one of the mouths is open I don’t know if that’s a problem or not.

As far as I know mushrooms dont split on their own. They have to be cut to split.

They leave a little blob of themselves that turn into another mushroom is how they multiply...

Mouth open is ok, it's taking in some nutrients from the water. They dont need to be spot fed. They feed from light and filter feed.

Here is one of mine. I am not sure what kind this is but it resembles a godzilla of some sort. Maybe it mutated to a bounce hahahah

But its mouth gets open pretty large throughout the day, it gets almost 6" across when open. Then it will close to nothing 5 min later.

A couple of those bubble on the outside get to thumb size

Okay great, I’m glad it’s not a problem. It’s odd that it would shrink itself for no reason.
It’s my first coral so I want to make sure it doesn’t die.
That mushroom you have looks really great, thank you for the information.

My mushrooms split naturally. Especially rics.

Really I have never seen or read about this. That is awesome! I guess I have been misinformed this whole time that's really cool!! I was lead to believe trauma had to occur to the base or mouth. This is sweet news lol

It's cool to watch.

I've seen my bounce split due to trauma to base. It split into 3. But never naturally. That's super awesome!

I just fed my fish and my mush shrunk up. Just posting so you can see the size difference and nothing is wrong with it. They do this and get smaller daily. :) this is the same angle.

Yeah there is quite a large difference, mine has somewhat opened back up so I am not worried at all.
