:ah: I currently have three chalices. One is my Lime in the sky mini colony which is doing great and growing fast. One is a pink mummy eye which was on the brink of death from bleaching until I moved it into the shade. The only good part about that was that it turned from green with pink eyes to pink with pink eyes. And the last chalice is one of my most prized corals. It was a wild colony that I got at a good price at my lfs. I have had it for a few months, and recently it has started to bleach in spots on it. The areas aren't very large, but I'm afraid that it will spread. Here is are two pics from two weeks ago when it was perfectly healthy. Since then the white spots have developed. I did recently switch my mh bulbs and my pc actinics. I also added a frag tank. I really don't want to lose this chalice, since it is coloring up more every week. Every other coral in my tank is fine, including acropora and monti caps.

What lighting are you running and what bulbs to you switch to and from? Did you do any acclimating to the new light? I recently switched from 250w Reefflux over to Radium's and I bleached out a few pieces being dumb and not light acclimating them. I am amazed the amount of light radiums put out VS the 12k Reefflux's I was running.

yeah it might be the light.. i have a wild colony similar to original mummy eye.. it bleaches when i give it too much light.. however my ome, bgm and bazooka joe are all right under my 250 radium.

IME the BGM,OME and BJ can all handle high light once they are used to it. the key is acclimating them though. I have a OME colony that is about 6" and has over 30+ eyes and it bakes about 15" under a 250w radium!

I switched from 150 watt coralife 10k or 14k bulbs to 20k 150 watt ushios. The real problem started when i switched my two 96 watt actinic power compacts two weeks later.

also, it can be eyes forming. now, if you haven't noticed it before when new eyes grew, then it probably isn't the case. but only because of what i have heard from other fellow r2r'ers, some chalices will show bleach spots before it forms new eyes. just a thought tho. i really hope it does ok, its gorgeous
