I had the same issue when I first purchased my zoa's. I had to move them 3 different times for them to finally open up. I would recommend moving them to see if that helps.

Is it possible something is bothering them ie nudibranchs, zoa spiders. Having them close isn't uncommon as snails crabs fish etc brush up against them but staying closed or dying off shows there is something else going.

I tried like 2 days ago moving them up closer to the light I'm running hydra 32s but it definitely seems like I am looking some of them there not as full and clumped up like they were

Nudibranches, zoa spiders.not sure what those are but don't think I have them.kinda looks like some are dieing off.they are not as full as they use to be.im running hydra 32 lights.i tryed moving them close to the lights.any suggestions to why they could be dieing off.had water tested at saltwater store and the said everything is good.

They were doing really good were they were but then all of a sudden looks like they are disapating instead of growing more.not as full loosing some of them.had my water tested at salt water store and they said everything water wise test good

can be nitrates, phosphates from feeding oyster feast, or lack of water flow and lack of iodine in water.
Start with a water test. Also try using a turkey baster and distribute gentle blasts from baster on zoas and see if that perks them up
