Hi all,

I have (had) a pretty successful gonio garden for more than 3 years. They grow, they thrive and now they die :( I have had very consistent success with 10 ppm nitrates and 0.08 phosphates and daily dosing of reef energy a+b.

Over the last couple of months I added some hard to keep fish in my tank (copperband and leopard wrasse and china wrasse ) so I fed more. My nitrates have gone up to 25 and is stable there. Po4 is now 0.12 and stable too. I am doing more water changes now to get them down, but still in my opinion it's not too bad.

But my gonios start dying. Some have tripled in size before. Had them over 3 years. They die from the bottom up. I am devastated. They are my favourites. I don't know what I can do to stop the receding.

I will ad a picture of how it looked not so long ago and pictures of the affected ones. About half if them is receding. The other half has no issues.

There are no fish or other critters bothering them. I changed nothing else in flow, light, food, salt, etc.

Please help:(

Sorry to hear this. Beautiful tank you have there.

Have any of the fish been picking at the Goni's? Mainly the CB or the Tang. Also have you introduced any other LPS corals that potentially could have Brown Jelly Disease recently? Maybe check for stray voltage.

Are you running any GFO, or similar media?
I am assuming you have ruled out chemistry.

I observed the fish very closely, no one is bothering them. The receding started als a pretty long time after the introduction of the fish. It's not brown jelly disease, just slowly dying from the bottom up. I will check for stray voltage but don't think this is it either. I have ordered an icp test, hope to get it to ATI this week so results will be next week.

I thought about dipping but most have grown attached to the rocks so they will be very hard to remove. I really would hate to lose them after all this time.

No gfo. Po4 went from 0.08 to 0.12 over the period of 1 month I think. I run a refugium and upped my water changes and cut a bit down in feedings to lower it a bit . Other parameters are stable for over 6 months at least except for no3.

No3 25 ish (5-10 before)
Po4 0.12 (0.06-0.08 before
