Got this huge colony of zoas with a deal. Did not particularly want them but there was no harm in tanking them I felt. First off what are they? And why are they so bland/brown looking? Is it a lack of nutrition or lighting?

Pandoras maybe? They generally are brown with gold-ish speckling that becomes more vibrant in blue light.

Could be the particular strain of zoa which has that coloration, but my experience leaning towards lighting

Is there a way to get them to be more vibrant? They seem quite lack luster. I started feeding reef roids yesterday....will that help?

It would help but they will probably explode in growth. They need some time to get their color back. They probably were kept under poor lighting and wrong spectrum

Gotcha, they look pretty good online, whats up with mine? These look

I see, what spectrum do they tend to perfer? Sorry...bit of novice when it comes to lighting

They are just that color. Looks like they are stretched, so you probably need more light. I’d concentrate on keeping your parameters stable before adding reef roids or anything else.

Could be that online picture was photoshopped to enhance how they look. I mean they are really pretty but super bright. Blue light makes them show gold specks. Dont always trust imageS of coral online, most are doctored

Totally, but still they just seem like they not showing their full color. But who knows. Ill just keep an eye on them for a while and maybe they will brighten up a bit!
