Why aren't products working as they should? Reef philosophy

So I have an interesting question..

Maybe around 6-7 products out of 10 are not doing what they're advertised to do / or even do in others (I mean in other countries) tank?

My recent miss is with KZ CoralSnow. Everyone reports crystal clear, particle free water after using it. However in my tank, not a single thing changes. I dose it at night, tank clouds up & at the morning everything looks like as it used to look before.
This is just an example, as this was the latest thing that hit me, but I've seen other products that don't seem to work in my tank.

I'm kind of starting to be paranoid and suspecting that maybe the LFS is changing out what is in the bottle & fills it with some DIY stuff & sells the original product to costumers where they go out to maintain their tanks? However the KZ products come in a sealed bottle, so it would be difficult for them to tamer, not impossible ofcourse.

I have no idea what's going on.

You're absolutely right! It's 100% the same discussion, and same magnitude as a $2000 tank that is bought by 1000's. I'm sure this post also raised panic, or at least made 100's if not 1000's of reefers to sleep bad, using CoralSnow, that it will surely nuke their tank & flood their houses, because it didn't clear up my water!
Can I still stay on this forum, or should I delete my account?

There are a lot of bad products and dishonest people in the world.Sometimes you have to sift through the garbage to find the gems!

Guys. I’m not trying to protect anyone, and feel for the OP, but this is just not the right way to handle these things, and I wish we, the reefing community could learn this.

The proper and gentleman way is to contact the manufacturer, see if they can sort it out or not, and only if they truely are unfair publish it on the internet forums, facebook groups.
But posting it on the internet before even asking RedSea about the situation is a bad move.

I was and sometimes still are like this, I understand this is the “fashion” to handle things nowdays, especially when one loses his mind because of the issue, but if you think about it a bit, it really is bad behaviour and can be contraproductive.

I guess you forgot the part where this only applies to items of a certain cost.

I have a cabinet full of products that say they'll cure various problems. MB7, Restore, Waste Away, Vibrant, chemi-clean, etc. Some have given me limited results and some I really can't say did anything.

I know good husbandry is the ultimate solution, but I too want that quick--er fix.

For a moment I took this thread seriously, but it seems mostly about trolling and being a jerk to people...

As to your point about Coral Snow, KZ's website doesn't say anything about crystal clear water. It's advertised that it "neutralizes undesirable acids and is a solution against e.g. slime algae and cyano bacteria." Other reputable sellers such as BRS say it helps "with yellowing compounds that activated carbon misses". None mention particles.

I think your expectations may be different than what the product is meant to do. Particles in the water is about mechanical filtration, not chemical.

If you don't trust your LFS, find another.

Some products are misunderstood by the manufacturer and cannot do what they claim.

Others are misunderstood by the aquarist, and they won’t accomplish the misunderstood claim.

Still others are a miscommunication between manufacturer and aquarist about when and how the product will actually match the claim.
