Why cant I keep favias and

my kits ran out they will be in Wednesday so i don't know thats why I'm doing the water change as a precaution to get me threw until then visually tank looks good normal algae on the glass every 3 days other than that just the few zoes closed up gsp closed up and favias still barely hanging on i checked all equipment i see no rust or anything like that but i will say the gsp closed up as soon as i set my doser up and has stayed that way ever since the uv bulb is about a year old that why i bought a few more will be here next week as well but i really don't think that has any effect on whats going on other than helping with water quality and glass algae i just raised my calcium to get that up and lower alk

With alkalinity that high you want some nutrients in the tank.

tank volume with sump I'm guessing is at about 125 gallons auto feeder is 2 times a day a mixture of all 3 nyos pellets then when i get home i usually feed 2 to 3 cubes mysis clam blood worms with a bit of selcon i only do that once a week then if i spot feed corals its the same cubes with reef roids and polyp booster usually once every other week

i will say i don't have a refugium i have always had a large skimmer uv and ozone i don't run ozone anymore so im thinking my nutrients might be threw the roof relying on the skimmer and uv alone to manage them

We never had a fuge on the reef tank. Skimmer and water changes. Usually kept the nitrates around 10 and phosphate at 0.02ish. Kept alkalinity at 9-10 dkh so kept some nutrients around. We did feed heavy though.

this tank was supposed to be a no water change tank im a year into it and so far so good my last tank was transferred over to this tank and that one was also a year no water changes only difference was i ran ozone so im thinking i might need more export

Try and keep Alk stable yesterday it was 9 and today its 11.76?.Also check for pests crawling around your favia,about 3 to 4 hours after lights out.

Wait so you are spot tong feeding the favias mysis at night right? And you see them suck it in and eat it? I usually get up at 3am and tong feed my lps once or twice a week. And reef roids every other day. It sounds like you are way underfeeding quality fresh/frozen food. And are you using any reef nutrition? They love artici pods and oyster feast

To make things easier try using a baster with foods like reef nutrition mysis feast. After some time you'll start getting a feeding response during the day. It's pretty cool

They do that sometimes but not all the time. I’ll try that out, it’s most deffinetly tedious tong feeding a 90/115 and a 35 lol. Thank you for the tip !

Lol that would be great. I have never witnessed feeders I use the Julian's thing to spot feed everything I mix mysis blood worms and clam together with reef roids and polyp booster and just spray it over them and all other corals
