I’m not sure if this is the exact reason, but freshwater discus (genus Symphysodon) can hit 90.3°f in the wild. I have heat-treated with ich cures in the wholesale industry at 94° or so. Which, in retrospect, is insane to think about a fish beating a disease at near hot tub temps.
In reefing, the only use I can think of is pairing it with a temperature controller with a probe and trying to rush the controller to its max. Which is risky if the controller fails in the ‘on’ position..
