Of recent months past, the amount of detritus in my tank has become outrageous. It covers my barebottom as well as all of my live rock.

I make a point to at least weekly use a powerhead to blow off the rock and in/behind rocks' nooks and crannys. I do a 30% water change bi weekly, the entire time being spent with a siphon tube spot sucking detritus.

I feed fish every other day, once pinch of flake food, and one mix of frozen shrimp on saturdays.

What could be causing this outrageous amount, and how can I reduce it?

(all the usual applies, my skimmer is working/clean, I use a filter sock on the tank-to-sump pipe as well as a prefilter on my return pump. Water chemistry is spot on if not above ideal levels. I have a sizable clean up crew of snails/crabs and starfish)

my tank is a 65g (36"x18") Marineland CornerFlo tank. I run a Mag5 return pump, with 3 Hydor Evo 750gph powerheads pointed together as to create as much disturbance as possible.

I have ~40lbs of rock, arranged in the two islands look. At it's peak it is barely halfway up the tank

Probably not enough flow and not randomized enough I had 2 hydor evo 1400's in a 65 gallon and 1 evo 750 all on a wavemaker and still had deadspots.
