Why do we keep newly bought coral low????

I would think if you buy a frag from WWC or any coral company out there lights are pretty bright wouldn't you think after shipping stress you would be stressing them out more by low light setting I for one dont I glue and my frag stay there unless after a week it's not open then I will adjust

Don't want to shock them with light or heavy water flow. Goal is to GRADUALLY bring them to full light and current needs.
 
If you know the exact conditions a frag came from and can replicate those same then no acclimation required. If you cannot then some accommodation is prudent.
 
To me, acclimating is the equivalent of resting. It’s gone through a lot of stress and needs time to recuperate.
 
Bc the PAR at most waterline is smthg like 500-1000 PAR.

makes for perfectly white skeletons within 36hrs
