Why do you reef?

Everyone has a different reason to reef. What's yours?

I like building a system that I can watch beautifully grow and evolve over time. I find everything from the microscopic to the fish and corals to be absolutely facsinating.

I been keeping marine fish for 50 years, why I guess I just enjoy having saltwater aquariums. I voted relieves stress, nit sure if it does. But the beauty is worth the time and effort.

My job is deadening, The spouse is frigid. The children are busy. Nothing else worth doing now.

Because, addictions. I never could figure out how to live without a dog or fish tank in my life. They will be with me as long as I am able to keep them well and myself.

I would agree, but I seem to like to play with fire. I am a bit addicted to chaos in this hobby.

Aside from maintaining a living work of art in my home, I geek out on the science/tech aspects of reefing as well.

My uncle had a SW tank when I was young. When we would visit them in California, I would stare at the tank for hours. So when I got old enough and had some money, I jumped in. That was 17 years ago.

While I don't sell coral or fish, the hobby has become a massive part of my career at this point.

It’s scientifically proven that having a fish tank relieves stress, even though at some times when things are going haywire in the tank it doesn’t seem that way!
