Why does my cheato float?

Everytime I buy a new batch, it sinks like normal, but after a week or two, it starts to float. Any ideas?

It's ok if it floats. It is ok if it tumbles. as long it is green and not white.

I'm not sure what your doing for flow in your refugium, but a ball of chaeto that's filled with bubbles would cause it to float. Maybe give it a good shake and see what happens.

Hmm...not a bad idea. The only flow is the return pump, but it moves the surface of the water very fast.

I agree that chaeto floating shouldn't be a big problem. If you can make it tumble at the top of the water, that might be the ideal scenario

Mine always floats and grows like crazy.
