I have had this duncan a little under a year, started as one head and now its i have no idea it just looks like one bubbly mass
It wasn't bubbly when i got it at the store i swear it had long tentacles
But tank had gone through ups and downs and this is it present time
New color and bubbles all over

interesting look

bump

I wouldn't do anything different. Just let them do their own thing. IMHO, they are, or will be, fine.

I know i havent changed anything even there position
I just clean my tank and maintain ot like the others
But yea just wonder why my duncans look different
They are plushy looking
My gf does love them

I think they look cool. And they sure don't look stressed. Just keep an eye on them. And if they stay like this, some day when you frag off a head or two, send my a PM and I'll buy them! ;)

Are they in lower flow? My colony has long thin tentacles in my current tank that has a lot of flow, in my previous tank my same colony was in lower not as random flow and had shorter fatter tentacles. Occasionally they will shrink up some in new tank if there is a minor fluctuation in a parameter, duncans are a great tell coral for me.

Mine did the same thing. I posted months ago. No one new. They react to cyano clean type meds. Also I think lack of nutrients

Mine does that when something bothers it, and also when it has lower flow or the lights are off.

My Duncan goes through cycles of this. Sometimes it’s from pooping, sometimes it’s cause there are food particulates in the water, sometimes it’s when they are ready to split, sometimes just a bad day. Haven’t lost a single head as a result. Mine are in lower light though so maybe that could be a starting point?
