Why does my snails shell look raw?

Is the raw pink edge of my snail’s shell something to worry about? Pics below.

Typically the new growth will look brighter or more colorful than the older shell....... could that be it?
It could be, although I'm not sure how a snails shell grows. If it grows outward from the center of the spiral (pointy tip on this snail) then I'd be worried. If it can add on to the end then I'd feel better.

There is definitely more of the rawness and I can't tell if it's eroding or new shell. Here is a comparison picture of what it looked like four days ago (left) and what it looks like tonight (right). Excuse the graininess, I had to zoom in a bit. Looking at that white semi-circle pattern on his shell it looks like it is growing outward and not eroding away. What do you all think?

Thanks everyone. It looked so raw I wasn't sure if it was a disease or some type of malnutrition since my tank is new. Glad to learn about snail growth :)
