Hello, I have a question about an algae issue. I have a 16 gallon biocube with one clownfish. It has a slimmer and I feed a small amount every other day. Why does my rock and sand keep growing this brown slime like algae? The tank is 7 months old, and I can’t figure out what’s wrong! Help appreciated

Are you running a skimmer in that tank?

Biocubes have a hard time breathing. Increasing oxygen will help displace co2.
Also I’d look into some more cuc before getting into the worm hole of dino ID and irradication.

Looks like common new tank. And yea new tank can be under a year. During the first year or so , algaes and such will cycle in and out. IMO , it’s generally only in hindsight most notice this trend. Any old reefer will tell you this is true.

hey chris's fish, I'm right there with You ! This algae eradication stuff can get pretty confusing ! at the moment I'm scratching my head trying to decide which way to go next. So far, vacuuming /siphoning & adding a lot more snails (a few at a time) has helped a lot. So hang in there !

Yeah I’m running a skimmer

Go to the Dino thread. It looks like dinos and you need to ID it with cheap microscope. Alternatively, the Dino thread offers various ways of determining if, in fact, you have dinos.
