Greetings and Salutations, lol
Hi ya'll Ok, I need to figure out why my torch is passing over to the other side ;Sour. So I bought this torch from my LRS about 3-4 weeks ago. It's been beautiful everyday and I had been wanting to get one for a while. I have a 70gal mixed reef that I started almost 10 months ago. I was a little nervous bc I had a frogspawn a cpl months back that didn't make it and I wasn't sure why but that was before I started dosing cal and mag. I did a water change and a parameter check last night and these are my numbers:
pH 8.2
Nitrites >0.05 ppm
Nitrates >5 ppm
Alkalinity 11
Calcium 450
Mag 1200
Phosphate 0.018
Salinity 1.024

After doing the water change I dosed just mag and I'll keep doing till I get to 1300 but other than that I kno my alk is a little higher than I would like but could that be the reason it's dying? All of my other corals are open and smiling at me so I don't kno where else to look. Even my goni's are doing well. Am I missing anything? It looks like it might be bleaching but my little red crab has been eating all the dead tissue so idk bc some parts are just exposed skeleton and others look normal. Is there any way to save this little guy? Or should I start planning the funeral now ;Meh Thanks for any suggestions.

How longs it been in that spot? I would maybe move it to the other side with less flow. Away from those.softies.
Keep the alk above 9 and keep that mag above 1600 or i think it was even 1800 i read the torches.like.

Definitely need to raise that magnesium up above 1350 at least. Your overall salinity is low as well. It should be 1.026 or 35ppt. hopefully it recovers! Torches are my favorite.

Mag should definitely be higher. At least 1350 i agree.

Idk why either but I've lost Euphylias in newer tanks when placed in the sand bed, but 2 inches up in the rock work they weren't a problem in the same tank.

I have no idea or insight as to what was causing that, was also having small Cyano blooms in the sandbed at the time, not sure if there's any correlation.

looks like possibly one of those heads had BJD.

I'd recommend a coral dip as well too possibly, and get rid of any left over dead tissue in the dead head, sometimes it spreads the rot.

Yes when I got up today I lost another head ;Shifty and when I looked closer it def was brown jelly disease. I guess I hadn't seen it earlier bc my crabs had got at all the dead tissue first. It's not looking good for him and I'm so sad. I thought they liked flow so I put him where he could get light to med flow. I'm curious about placing them further up on rock work. But regardless it looks like I'm losing it. I doubt it will stop w just 2 heads. But I might try a dip and see of that helps at all. Otherwise I guess I'm stuck with a really expensive paperweight
