Can't I just enjoy my pretty fish and coral in my big box of water???
Anyway, just a bad weekend I guess.
1st - I do QT everything and had a cupramine treatment go bad this weekend.
I have had 3 fish in a 65 gal QT for a little over 2 weeks. (Lietuenat tang, kole tang and one spot foxface)
Started cupramine treatment (no signs of illness just proactive treatment) Thursday and added 2nd dose Saturday.
I added 5ml on Thurs and 5ml on Sat. Which should equate to .5 level for 52 gallons of water.
But this is a 65 gallon so I was hoping for .3-.4 or somewhere in there.
Well I dosed and left the house for a few hours and come back to all 3 fish struggling. I quickly did a big water change and started running cupisorb.
This morning (monday) 2 of the 3 fish are dead.
I have used cupramine before with no isssue on my current fish so I am not sure what happened.
Maybe I dosed too fast but not sure. If/when I use it again I will go much slower.
This is a cycled and established QT that has been up and running and constantly filled with fish since February this year.
I did not have any other meds in the tank either. I have no idea what went wrong. I even tested the water and it did not appear to be over .5 for copper so I am unsure of how this could be an overdose.
Hoping the remaining fish pulls through.
2nd - On another possible bad note I saw some kind of white spots on my Yellow tang in the DT. Not sure what it is/was but it sure stress me out to the max! He seems normal eathing normal and not sratching or anything like that. In fact you couldn't even see them without just the blue lights on.
No other fish seem impacted either. Hoping maybe just coral sting or something as it did not really look like ich. All the fish in the DT tank have been through 4 weeks of copper and additional time in QT. In fact my DT was fallow for 10 weeks during this QT and tank upgrade. Nothing has been added to the tank except fish that have been through copper and then 4 week of observation in QT so I am not sure how it could be ich. I hope it is not but it still stresses me out. Guess I will just have to keep an eye on it. Catching my 8 fish in my 180 is not something I want to do.
It just sucks when you try and do everything right and you still fell so stressed out and worry about every little thing! I guess sometimes it makes you wonder why you put so much time, money and effort into something you are suppose to enjoy and then it just ends up causing more stress!
Sorry to be such a downer but I guess I just needed to vent.
