the thing i have a problem with is not the biodiversity itself but the way that companies that sell the 'bacteria in a bottle' under the guise of 'more bacteria = better' is what im getting at.Oh I think the bacteria craze is rather nonsensical myself. To me biodiversity is having as wide a variety as possible of microscopic and larger organisms, not chasing specific strains and cultures of bacteria. And that is best achieved by using 100% live rock when starting up a reef, or adding any rock for that matter.![]()
completely agree with you that you need to add some live rock or corals and let the populations of microorganisms grow on their own to a certain carrying capacity. bacteria that cant maintain a stable population maybe shouldnt be in a reef tank. just my 2 cents
