Every so often I'm seeing people selling items and saying they're getting out of the hobby. Curious as to why? Financial? Moving? No time? Health? Etc? Any lessons learned or advice far those of us still in this?
Can't imagine why? My biggest expense is salt. But, I'm guessing if you buy high end corals and fish, then half die, how many times can you replace?
Maybe, if you went to cheap on equipment, and now , after a short time you replace. I'm sure it would be frustrating! And expensive to replace, just like buying a very used car.
Many find that it takes too much of their time away from family. Some people's tanks get consumed with gha and they give up as well as everything already mentioned. Personally I'm too addicted and refused to give up the hobby but I've come real close several times. I have four systems in my house and believe me that makes it really hard when you want to go away for a week and even harder if you want to go away longer than that. I'm just lucky to have one of my kids willing to come over and feed my tanks and check on filter bags and such. If I didn't have her I couldn't go anywhere. Although my dog is even more of a problem than babysitting the tanks lol
