My job deals with high voltage. However I also do root cause analysis for my large company as their technical lead.

Do not let this happen to you. You spend thousands on your setup. Please spend the extra hundreds on gfci, proper wiring and components (not dollar store), and if you are reno or new construction having an inspection.

Take the time to keep electrical areas clean, your fish, your family, and your life depends on it.
