Why is it that everything that can go wrong, goes wrong overnight! I swear all my equipment failures and Incidents happen through the night and I wake up to it before work. So irritating.
My tubing came off my pump so pump was spraying water everywhere and blew my electrics at some point throughout the night :(. I've dried it but I guess there's still a little bit of water somewhere as the rcd keeps tripping still!

Sorry to hear about this. That stinks. I hope your gear is recoverable and not a total loss.

Happens to me too.

About a year ago I installed a roller mat which involved re plumbing the drain and return.

Return pump pipe came off in the middle of the night (about 1.30am) and emptied the sump all over the room.
Woke up to a screaming return pump.

Was all clean by 6am though :) in time for work.

I think the term that best sums this up is Murphys Law! Anything that can go wrong will and usually at worst possible time just like you said. Sorry to hear about the crappy luck! Hopefully you can get everything in working order again.

Yes, I used to service tanks for folks and night time disasters happen, along with vacation disasters.

What I found that minimizes disasters is keep the tank system simple, but with redundancy built in (especially for aeration). All equipment breaks eventually. The least amount of components the better.

I've just got it all back up had to go out and buy a new power bar but its running, thankfully everything seems alright has just been 1 large powerhead running all day.

sounds similar to something that happened to me a couple days ago, the tube for my ATO pump came undone somehow and when it turned on it began spraying water EVERYWHERE because i don't have a cover for my reservoir yet, luckily i was still awake (was about 11:30pm and i was falling asleep) it happens to all of us.
