It's definitely tripled in size since I bought it, but the tips always stay like this. It hasn't moved anywhere else either.

Ca 450, Mg 1500, Alk 8.3, Nitrate 0.5, Salinity 1.025
Light: Kessil 360we

I have 4 different BTA and 2 bubble and 2 don't. They do what they do.

I've had 2 BTA and they were inflated at LFS but as soon as I brought them home they're like this. The other one died a long time ago.

That is the million dollar question! Nobody really knows why. They can be perfectly healthy and have stringy tentacles. Que sera sera I'm afraid.

That happens all the time I've led too believe it was something to do with lighting and flow ....mines tend too bulb up when in almost still flow and low light....the ones getting blasted with light look like this

I think I have 130 nems BTA's ive raised from 1 and if they get too blasted with light they remain small and or hide and stop splitting. Your looking for a balance and you might find less is more with these guys. Yours looks great and pretty happy to me. Mine with much less light are growing larger again and hopefully will start splitting again, also coloring up much better

UPDATE: they just magically split overnight! This is the first time I've seen this. Why is it so fast? Other corals when they split I can see the slow progress but in this case it's like someone just put another nem in. lol

Some say its because they are happy that they split and some say its survival.....either way its looks good now

I've done multiple experiments on several tanks with these. I am going to make a guess that this nem is in a smaller tank, Less than 55 gallons?
They are happiest with bubbles, but can live fine like that. In my experience rapid splitting combined with a loss of bubbles, is not an overly favorable environment, but aquaculture nems often can survive (and learn to thrive) in most environments. I see some kenya trees next to the first photo, in my smallest tank with nems that look like this (15 or so in a 20g), the kenya trees grow like weeds. What are your phosphates and do you use a skimmer? Also tell me about the flow they get please! :)

Thanks. My tank is 75gal. Not sure how to describe the flow but I have 2 Jebao placing on the opposite of each other so that they create a circular flow around the tank. Flow level is not really intense. I've tried to adjust at different level but the nems still remain the same position and not bubbled. :/

Nitrate is almost 0 and phosphate is undetected. I have a skimmer too.

you should maybe think about raising Nitrate and phosphate. That also feeds them and helps with color...

Nems. Are. Weird.

I have birdsnest and some acro so raising it might not be ideal? I do feed the nems every other day and I thought that's already too much. I do think you're correct though. They don't seem to be happy.
