Why is my coral losing color?

The more experienced SPS keepers might want to chime in here and correct me if wrong:
Isn't it usually if it STN's from the base up it's nutrients a lot of times and from the tips down usually a lighting or alk issue? (Excluding pests, of course)

acropora is like mother nature it does what it wants. in this instance i believe there's some parameter issue causing the recession.

I had alk probs recently and it was base up. Changed salts too fast.
