Why is my tank not cycling?

he is a blenny, and blennies such as the tailspot that you have there like corners, and just hiding in general. ive had a tailspot that started out hanging out just on the sandbed, and from what ive seen personally, sitting on the sandbed isnt abnormal for them until they get comfortable.
eating is a good sign. if he goes to the top for air, doesnt keep himself upgright, etc., thats when i would be worried. you know, the standard "dying fish symptoms".
blennies have a lot of personality. however, they are not an active swimmer fish. they like to perch. the couple blennies i have generally hang out in rockwork until they swim somewhere else, but they are very goal oriented fish. if they leave their hole, its to go to another one, or perhaps to eat something, but generally they like to perch wherever they find to be comfortable.
the whole pellet thing, i wouldnt worry about too much. none of my blennies really eat anything once it hits the sand. in fact, one of my blennies doesnt really like pellets at all, while the other does.

Yeah he’s seems healthy by those standards. Good to hear!

eventually, they should get more comfortable exploring the tank, and come out more. at least its eating, and as long as you know its eating, thats good. the tailspot blennies seem to be not as outgoing as others such as the bicolor or flametail

Sure hope so, he was very active in the fish store, swimming from rock to rock super cute lol. For my next fish I’ll go with more of a swimmer. I was thinking a court jester goby they’re pretty nice, and I hear they’re good utilitarians. Only going to be 2 maybe 3 fish max depending on the size, if they’re like this TSB I don’t think I’ll have an issue with 3.
