Try this as a test:

Take your Zoa and raise it up closer to the light. Get a long piece of PVC tubing, stand it upright in the sand and place the Zoa on the top so that its 6 inches from the light and see if it opens.

I am inclined to think the lighting is inadequate and why it doesn't open. But remember that it could be more than just a lack of lighting.

Is there a local reef club you can join and have members take a look at things?

For test kits big 3 alkalinity and magnesium salifert calcium calcium elos. Nitrates salifert as well and Hanna test kit for phosphate. For now try to get calcium and alkalinity as soon as possible magnesium and nitrates could wait for now

Thank you very much for the kind comment. I got this tank for free given to me and I'm just starting in the hobby and so far I am it's a work in progress so be sure and upload and document to my best ability and closeted of remarks like this inspire me even more thank you so much

My calcium levels were low and I'm happy with the response that my coral gave it was one of the things that came with my tank when I got it in addition to about 4" of old water and the substrate and this is what I am using to get my calcium magnesium levels adjusted. Also I'm using RO water to set this up and then my next purchase will be an DI cartridge for my unit so then Im compliant with guidelines....

This is what I'm using to get my calcium and micro Elements dialed in
