Why is setting up an RODI unit confusing and so much work?

I got my new RODI and this is how far I got for today lol! Thankfully it fits on my garage water supply because it didn’t fit any of my sinks and I would’ve returned it.

Run only cold water thru it. No need to split the line for hot and cold
It’s always been like that when we bought the house lol. It wasn’t for my RODI but I can remove it.

Looks like your almost there. Like said above, I wouldn't even plumb the hot water line. One mistake and the membrane is toast.

No di hook up?

Edit hopefully your garage doesn't get TOO warm, high ambient temp is just as bad as running hot water through the membrane.

It has it! It’s the middle one and it says the max temp is around 100 F so I think I’ll be good especially with the end of Summer near.

Only hook it to the cold side. Follow directions and flush the membrane before connecting the di cartridge. its easy as pie. I think all the tubing intimidates people. Don't forget to unhook that hot water. Or don't turn it on. I'm sure you'll be pleased and surprised. Best wishes!

Yes it does! Thank you.

Lol. I just read the other responses. I guess we all brought up that hot water. Lol. Mounting looks good. Is it going to your topoff or into storage?

Storage to be made on demand.

Congrats on the new unit. It is well worth the cost in the long run, even for a Nano tank like you have.

Everyone already said, no hot water so we can skip that one. lol

Not sure why your water is hooked up that way? I would ditch the Y hose. If you need to use the cold supply for other things, get a simple Y adapter from Home Depot.

I got a simple brass Y fitting that goes on the cold water supply for the washing machine...

Just only turn the cold on when you want to make water and you will be fine no need to do any extra plumbing and create another possible leak point

Believe it or not I had fun setting up mine!
As mentioned above be careful to use the hot water tap, it will degrade your membrane.
Congrats!

i think all you have to do now is add the line into and out the di. any other specific problems? the manual should tell you which line goes where.

The manual isn’t that good lol. I have to watch more videos but I know I almost got it.

Flush the ro first before hooking up di. There is an antibacterial substance in the ro. Then you'll be ready to go!

Does your unit have any type of pressure gauge? In the instructions does it mention what the water pressure should be going through the unit?
