Going true white corals website and I’ve seen this blue watermelon on they’re hall of fame mixed in with jawbreakers and kriptonite, is there any reason in particular why such a common coral would be considered so special?

None of the "named" corals are rare, but definition, since they're aquacultured. In-demand and therefore expensive, perhaps, but not rare. To me "rare" means uncommon in the wild, and/or rarely collected and imported. There's quite a number of species that fit that description in Veron's book "Corals of the World".

That’s the proper definition of rare, but in the hobby rare just means something that isn’t readily available therefore expensive.
