Why must you leak bulkhead??

I have been setting up my new system and have ran into the biggest speed bump ever, a leaky 3/4" bulk head. This **** thing is really driving me nuts. I have completely removed and reinstalled it, and it still leaks. The gasket underneath is not torn, and I am tightening it down good and snug. I have already ordered another one, but I was wondering if one of the bulkhead alternatives from brs can suffice for use in an overflow...if anybody knows that would be great.

I have to ask. The gasket is being placed on the inside correct?

Yes, the gasket is on the inside (flange side), I even tried two gaskets...one on inside and one on outside (I am using bulkheads from my old tank which had dual overflows, and neither leaked).

Internal or External overflow? Is the bulkhead/seal able to be seated against the glass/acrylic completely flat? No silicone or anything in the way?

It's an internal overflow and the bottom of the overflow is clean but I am gonna reclean it tonight, maybe a piece if sand or something is still down there.

You say nice and snug. How tight is snug? If you over tighten it, you pinch the gasket and it can leak. Get some 2" PVC and heat the end of it. Then push it over the nut and let it cool, making a spanner wrench. Hand tighten it and then go 1/4 turn more. That should be good.

I don't think I overtightened it, pretty much hand tightened it, and a little extra ( about 1/2 turn) with a wrench.

I think there was some silicone coming out of the hole from the previous install. I scraped it for two hours with four razor blades, it's squeaky clean now, but now I think my two inch drain bulkhead has started leaking

Gonna have to repeat
